SUDAN INSIGHT ALERT: Radio Dabanga - Economic expert expects fall of Sudanese Pound

17/2/2021: Radio Dabanga - Economic expert expects fall of Sudanese Pound

Radio Dabanga reports on economic recommendations from economic expert Sidgi Kaballo, who expects the fall of the Sudanese pound unless the government takes urgent measures, unless food insecurity increases the coming months.

Attributing the rapid fall of the Sudanese Pound to the formation of the new government and speculation by currency dealers, Dr. Kaballo called on the government to take urgent measures to reduce the demand for the Dollar, including preventing the import of luxury goods. He further called for public companies to take over export operations. Livestock export must be “taken away from the monopoly of the military establishment”.
