28/8/19: Bellingcat - Saudi Arabia & Murky European Weapons Transfers To Janjaweed Successor Group, by Eric Woods

An open-source investigation by Bellingcat, an independent international collective of researchers, investigators and citizen journalists – found that weapons purchased by Saudi Arabia from Serbia have ended up with the Rapid Support Forces.

End-user assurances between the Serbian and Saudi governments for thousands of Kalashnikov’s stated that they were “not for re-export” and for the “exclusive use of the Ministry of Defence of Saudi Arabia.”

However, videos posted on YouTube found that Houthi rebels in Yemen seized Serbian-produced Zastava M05 rifles, Sudanese passports and RSF ID cards from Sudanese troops.

Research into Facebook postings of Sudanese soldiers also found them posing with Serbian firearms.
