SUDAN NEWS ALERT: Sudan Tribune - Hamdok says revolution is civilian-military alliance

26/12/2019: Sudan Tribune - Hamdok says revolution is civilian-military alliance

Sudan Tribune reports that Prime Minister Abdallah Hamdok stressed that the Sudanese revolution is a result of the alliance between civilians and military.

Hamdok praised the regular armed forces for “protecting democracy,” underling the military’s role in the collapse of al-Bashir’s regime, which reflects the Sudanese revolution being a “model of national consensus.”

Hamdok stressed that the Sudanese model is based on a partnership between civilians and the military to build a democratic state and the rule of law.

Hamdok also added that the military participation in the transition is among the major obstacles hindering Sudan’s removal from the US State Sponsor of Terrorism list.
