31/12/2019: Sudan Tribune - Sudan seizes schools affiliated to Islamic groups

Sudan Tribune reports that the Sudanese Humanitarian Aid Commission has taken control of schools owned by the Islamic Call Organisation, a group of the former ruling National Congress Party (NCP).

The seizure of the buildings is in line with recent laws to confiscate NCP assets.

Ali Al-Obaid, an official at the Sudanese Ministry of Education, said that 25 million Sudanese pounds of profits from the schools went to the Islamic Call Organisation.

He added that he hopes the schools will be integrated into the Ministry of Education, so that their profits align with the interests of the government.
