6/7/2020: Radio Dabanga - Government delegation visits Darfur sit-in

 Radio Dabanga reports that a delegation from the Sudanese government visited Niertiti in Central Darfur to speak with sit-in demonstrators, who protest against insecurity in the area.

 The delegation was headed by Sovereign Council member Mohamed el-Taayshi, who was accompanied by the ministers of Justice, Labour, Welfare and Information. Solidarity protests were held by resistance committees in Khartoum, Omdorman and Bahri.

 Niertiti protesters demand:

  •  Dismissal of the director of the locality, the chief of police, and the commanders of the army, security service, and the Rapid Support Forces

  • Disarmament of those not authorised to carry weapons

  • Security and protection in the area and retribution for victims.

  • Protection of farmers and farms. 

  • Return of the livestock robbed by militias.

  • Opening pasture tracks to avoid frictions between herders and farmers

  • Banning of motorcycles.
