31/3/2020: Sudan Tribune - IGAD leaders agree to establish regional response to fight coronavirus  

 Sudan Tribune reports that the leaders of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), an eight-country trade bloc in East Africa, have agreed to establish a strategy and emergency fund to fight coronavirus.

 Sudanese Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok is also the Chair of the IGAD Assembly of Heads of State and Government.

 The IGAD leaders agreed to jointly strengthen national health systems and build local manufacturing capacity for medical equipment and supplies to fight pandemic diseases.

 IGAD leaders called on the international financial institutions to cancel the debts of IGAD countries to free up resources to fight the coronavirus.
