SUDAN NEWS ALERT: Radio Dabanga - Man dies after tear gas fired in Sudan capital

19/11/19: Radio Dabanga - Man dies after tear gas fired in Sudan capital

Radio Dabanga reports that a man was suffocated in the south-western part of Khartoum when police used tear gas to disperse demonstrators in Kalakla El Laffa.

Local resistance committees said in a press statement that Mohamed Tembel, suffering from breathing problems, went to the Kalakla El Laffa market, when the police fired tear gas to break up a demonstration in the neighbourhood.

Tembel was taken to the nearby Turkish Hospital, but it lacked emergency equipment, oxygen, and qualified staff. During attempts to find a hospital with an intensive care unit to receive him, his condition worsened and he passed away.

The resistance committee holds the Sudanese police responsible for his death.
