5/10/19: Sudan Tribune – Sudanese Islamists deny resorting to violence as they plan for protests

Sudan Tribune reports on senior Islamists denying accusations that they are preparing sabotage operations in Sudan.

Excluded from the pending formation of the transitional parliament, Sudanese Islamists have scheduled demonstrations outside the army headquarters for October 21,  demanding that the military remove Hamdok and the Forces of Freedom and Change.

However, Ammar Alsjad, a leading member of the Sudanese Islamist Popular Congress Party (PCP) told Sudan Tribune that the Islamists will cooperate with the FFC and “work to correct the course of the revolution.”

Osama Tawfiq of the Islamist Reform Now Movement said that the Islamists will exercise “rational opposition, without resorting to violence.”

However, Tawfiq accused the FFC of falsifying the constitutional declaration and delaying the formation of an investigation committee on the June 3 massacre. He predicted that the transitional government will not last longer than six months if lifts subsidies on fuel, flour, and other basic commodities.
