9/10/19: Radio Dabanga - Sudan cabinet outlaws mercury, cyanide in mining

Radio Dabanga reports that the Sudanese cabinet has issued directives calling an immediate halt to the use of toxic mercury and cyanide in mining operations in Sudan following mass protests in South Kordofan and elsewhere in the country.

 Cabinet ministers ordered that a proportion of profits generate by companies have to be allocated to developing local communities.

 Information minister Faisal Salih also announced that environmental observers have been dispatched to report on any environment harms.
