2/8/2021: Sudan Tribune - Hamdok calls to integrate more groups into Sudan’s ruling coalition

Sudan Tribune report that Prime Minister Abdallah Hamdok’s called upon the leaders of the Forces for Freedom and Change (FFC) coalition to exert more effort to integrate holdout groups into the ruling coalition.

The holdout factions reportedly told Hamdok that they were ready to rejoin the historical FFC but requested a delay of the appointment of governors and the formation of the legislative council and to prioritise reforming the coalition’s structures.

Sudan Tribune note that the Sudanese Communist Party, which is opposed to the economic reforms implemented by the transitional government, rejected calls to rejoin the reunited FFC.

Divisions within the FFC factions hampered the formation of the legislative council and delayed reforms to be enforced by the transitional government. Also, they contributed, among others, to weaken Hamdok’s government which rule the country in partnership with the military component, Sudan Tribune add.
