20/11/19: Sudan Tribune - U.S. is in midst of Sudan’s lifting from terror list: Nagy

 Sudan Tribune reports that Tibor Nagy, the Assistant Secretary for U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of African Affairs, said that the US is in the midst of the process of lifting Sudan from the list of State Sponsors of Terrorism.

 Nagy’s position on the SST lifting process wavered between seeking to be ascertained that the military would not hamper the transition in Sudan and insisting on the need to conduct several steps stipulated by the process. He also spoke about the need to modify congressional acts banning support to Sudan.

 Nagy also said Sudan was a country the US plans to support in its budget for Africa in 2020, and that the US will “do anything possible to support the [democratic] transition in Sudan.”
